December 30, 2005

Kole has now completed two days of radiation and will receive his 3rd day today. The radiation part does not take long -- like 20 seconds. However, the setup does because they want to radiate the exact spots so everything is covered and hopefully stays away from vital parts. Because of the setup, he is put to sleep and it takes about one and half hours from start to finish. He is doing well with it. He continues to progress with his walking and his strength is growing. He is in speech therapy and physical therapy. Last night he took on a new look. He buzzed his head like his father's. They are now true buddies. He looked real handsome with his new haircut. Steve and Janni are doing well and are still putting their trust in the Good Lord. Jaelle is having a blast playing with the kids at the McDonald House plus all the attention that she receives from the Grandparents and parents. The Grandparents are planning to return to Ohio on Sunday. Steve and Janni are going to try it on their own for a week and see how things go. Their time at the hospital is much shorter than it was two weeks earlier when they had to spend all day there. They also have a car now and that sure helps. They are no longer waiting on the shuttle. McDonald House is only about 2 or 3 blocks from the hospital. There is still a long process ahead. Radiation will last till around Feb. 13th and then they will return home for about 4 weeks. Then they will return in March for 4 months of chemotherapy. Please keep praying and we thank you for all your support during these very trying times. The McDonald House address is 535 Alabama Ave., Memphis, TN 38105.

Kellers,
We just wanted to let you know that Kole and all of you are in our family's thoughts and prayers every day. We are happy to hear about Kole's progress walking and we pray that the radiation treatments are effective. Emma was enjoying getting to know Kole and Jaelle and wishes them the best. Please don't hesitate to ask if there is anything our family can do for any of you. We'll continue to pray for you and check this site regularly for updates.

Hi Keller Family,

We love having this website to be able to keep up with everything that is going on with Kole. We're glad he is doing well with the radiation so far. We continue to believe and pray for God's mercy and a miracle healing so that Kole can avoid as much of the radiation and chemotherapy treatments as possible. Your family has been a true witness of what faith in God means and how it is displayed. We are truly blessed by you all and please know that you are making differences in the lives of those that know you and are helping to increase their faiths also. Surely God is going to use this situation to show His love and power over anything this world can hand us. Let us know if there is anything we can do for you and your family-even the smallest thing. We love you all and will continue to pray fervently.

Love,
Matt, Kristi and Kaden Lora

Hi Kellers!
Just want you to know that the entire Newsome family misses all of you very, very much! Harry and Sue are truly feeling a void in the absence of their "other grandchildren." Troy, Traci, Ty and Michelle feel helpless and wish we could do more to help out during this time. (Not that we underestimate the power of prayer; we know that God is faithful!) And of course Kade, Brock, Jarrett and Brooke are all missing their little companions terribly! Please remember that you can call any of us at any time, day or night, we are ALWAYS here for you!
May the new year bring healing and strength to your family.
We love you!
The Newsomes

Dear Kellers,
As you requested, we continue to pray for Kole, your family and all the specialists involved in Kole's recovery and treatment. We were happy to read that you are not spending as much time at the hospital and that Kole's treatments are so short. Derick continues to pray for Kole and before he does, he always says "I'm going to shout it out!" He really misses him and can't wait to see him again. Know that you are greatly missed and never forgotten throughout our days. We hope and pray for these next few months to go by quickly and that Kole will respond to his treatments well. Again, we wish that you will have only good news in the new year!
Love,
The Harrahs

Dear Kellers,

Happy New Year to you! We are sending prayers and positive thoughts your way on a constant basis. Our prayer today is that 2006 will bring Kole good health and all of you a strength and inner peace like you've never known before. It comforts us to know that you are at the best facility in the country for Kole's illness and that the Great Healer is looking down on you and all that goes on and is orchestrating His plan in His perfect timing in His perfect way! How awesome that is!
Hal is thinking that his side of the hallway is waaaaay too quiet without your presence there, Janni. He's also taken an uncontrollable and unexplainable liking to Twinkies! He thinks you'd better get that little guy well and back to your normal routine SOON! But, seriously, please know that you are on our hearts and in our prayers. We are certain that better times are just around the corner for all of you!

Peace be with you,
Hal and Chris Harnden

Hi

I just happened across your blog in surfing...I thought I would just post a note to say that I hope 2006 will be a good year for all your family and for Kole in particular of course. Now that I've read a little about what you are going through, your family will be in my prayers.

If you would like to see some other wonderful children I'm helping - although their difficulties are of a quite different nature, feel free to drop by my blog http://shantidhara.blogspot.com/

Best wishes.

Kellers,
This is a wonderful site. It is a place to turn when we are thinking of Kole, Jaelle, Janni and Steve. We are grateful for the updates, so we can take them to God in our prayers. Maddie prays for Kole each night, and she always asks who is taking Kole his homework, can you tell she is the daughter of two teachers! Kole is very lucky to have a family who is guiding him through this with the words of God.
We miss all of you!

To everyone on Kole's Team:
Our hearts go out to your entire family. Situations like this, cause us to reflect on how God blesses everyone of us, every day, and we too often take that for granted.
Steve and Janni, anyone that has ever been graced with your family's presence, has experienced the true meaning of faith. Your strength and confidence in this trying time makes each and every one of us stronger. You two are our "strength" coach now (basketball will wait)
Always know that you are in our thoughts and prayers and we wish Kole a complete and speedy recovery. If we too, can be of help in any way, please DO NOT hesitate to ask.

God Bless You All,
Matt,Jen,Jake and Josh Jenne

Dear Keller Family,
From our Keller family to yours - we wish you all the best and can totally relate to what your going thru. Jim is in his 4th week of experimental chemotherapy and after 12 weeks we do another CT Scan and blood work to see if it's suppressing the growth of his cancer. We all pray daily for your family and ours and still keep the faith for a miracle. Was wondering if you've heard of the program called Bureau for Children with Medical Handicaps (BCMH)? It's a program in Ohio that our tax dollars pay for and what it does is kick in what your insurance doesn't pay for. You can contact your local health department to get enrolled. I know when Beth Anne had her brain surgery we ended up only paying a few hundred dollars for bills that totalled over $50,000. If we can be of any help please let us know.
Love, The Kellers
Jim,Cindy,Jimmy, Jeff, Beth Anne and Becky
