2We always thank God for all of you (Kellers), mentioning you in our prayers. 3We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.
4For we know, brothers (Kole & Judah) and sisters (Janni & Jodi – and Ellie) loved by God, that he has chosen you, 5because our gospel came to you not simply with words, but also with power, with the Holy Spirit and with deep conviction. You know how we lived among you for your sake. 6You became imitators of us and of the Lord; in spite of severe suffering, you welcomed the message with the joy given by the Holy Spirit. 7And so you became a model to all the believers in Macedonia and Achaia (and Oak Harbor). 8The Lord's message rang out from you not only in Macedonia and Achaia—your faith in God has become known everywhere (throughout Ohio, throughout the USA, beyond…). Therefore we do not need to say anything about it, 9for they themselves report what kind of reception you gave us. They tell how you turned to God from idols to serve the living and true God, 10and to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead—Jesus, who rescues us from the coming wrath.
Sweet Lord, we thank you and praise you for your outpouring of grace and goodness upon the Keller family. Their pursuit of faithfulness, righteousness and trust continues to be rewarded with blessing. They have been given the gift of tasting your bread, the Word, and getting their fill; they have savored moments of peace that you alone can provide in the midst of overwhelming storms; you have given them quiet reassurances in the face of on-going shouts of doubt; they have felt the closeness of their creator in times when their journey seemed most lonely. And now you their creator creates again, just for them. You have reaffirmed the caring, capable hands of Steve and Janni by entrusting the soul of Judah David Keller, whom you already know and love. Father, we thank you for that precious child and pray that you help Steve and Janni guide him to develop a heart like David; may your favor rest on him as on your people Judah. Lord, may this child’s life shine in a way that reflects the fact that the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. We pray this in the name of Jesus the Messiah. Amen.
