Dear Keller Family,

I just want you to know that I think of your family often. My Aunt Joy and Uncle Lou care about your family so much and they are the reason I came to know you.

Death is never an easy thing, but one thing I've learned is that there is a reason for it, although, we may never know it, there is one. It will be 6 years April 28, 2007, that my best friend, Melanie, at the age of 24, took the Lord's hand and entered the Gates of Heaven. I know that she watches over me as will Kole watch over his family.

I believe that Kole knew Christ was coming for him and that is the reason he left this earth when he did. Christ came out of the Tomb on Easter Sunday and took Kole's hand that Monday and escorted him up to Heaven with Him, as He knew Kole did not want to go alone.

I was blessed by Kole's presence only a couple of times, but he was the happiest kid I've ever met. I'll always remember the last time I seen Kole as it was the last basketball game of the season and he was in the weight room, "lifting weights", telling me how he works out EVERY day in his basement. I told Kole he had bigger muscles than me and he smiled and laughed. When I asked Kole how he was going to ride his Gator around his yard, play with Ellie and work out every day this summer, he responded by saying it was going to be too hot and he just wasn't going to work out. I just smiled and laughed.

I thought to myself what a wonderful kid, what a wonderful family. Kole was not one to show weakness and if I were a stranger, I would have had no idea that he was sick, as he didn't show it. It's so great that he was able to live the way he did and was able to be surrounded by the people that were in his life as they made him even stronger. I will still think of your family often and will always remember Kole.

God Bless your family.

With Deepest Sympathy,

Mindy Cook

Steve and Janni and family,

Our love and thoughts and prayers are with you in these days.

Janni, it was so beautiful to see you on Easter Sunday going "through the cross" with Judah in your arms. So many important messages in that...

And your words about the story in 2 Chronicles 20 - I am remembering how the struggle ended - "And the kingdom of Jehoshaphat was at peace, for his God had given him rest on every side."

I bet Kole is saying today, like David said long ago, (Ps. 18:19), The LORD has brought me out into a spacious place; He rescued me because He delighted in me!

Peace, rest on every side, a spacious place... We all long for that! And Kole - is living it right now, in perfection!

May our God, who delights in you, be YOUR spacious place today and every day that follows.

Know you are loved and held by Him (the same arms holding Kole right now!)

Blessings to you all,
Marge and Gary Y.

Janni,
My mom just sent me these song lyrics so that we could share them with you. We love you all and you are always in our prayers!

Higher Ways

Isaiah 55:8 & 9, Philippians 4:6 & 7

If I could only fly

I’d go up and look down from the sky

So I could see the bigger picture

And Lord if I could sit with You

At Your feet for an hour or two

I’m sure I’d ask too many questions

‘Cause there’s so much going on down here

That I must confess I just don’t understand

Bridge

But I have prayed

At Your feet my whole life has been laid

So I don’t worry or be afraid

‘Cause my soul is resting on Your higher ways

Let the road ahead become unclear

I am Yours so what do I have to fear

If my soul is resting on Your higher ways

Chorus

Your higher ways teach me to trust You

Your higher ways are not like mine

Your higher ways are the ways of a Father

Hiding His children in His love

Bridge

So let it rain

And if my eyes grow dim with tears of pain

This hope I have will not be washed away

‘Cause my soul is resting on Your higher ways

Someday I will fly

Maybe then You will take me aside

And show me the bigger picture

But until I’m with You

I’ll be here with a heart that is true

And a soul that’s resting on

Your higher ways

The funeral was beautiful. I have been very upset since I heard the news of the loss of Kole, but after the service I realize that he is in a much happier place and with his Heavenly Father. He has made such an impact on so many lives for being as strong as he is. God bless ♥

Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your families at this time. Kole was very blessed to have such a strong support group as he had with all of you. I have been feeling kinda down because my daughter is a senior this year and will be going away to college but now I will hug my kids tonight and realize how lucky I am to still have them with me. God gives them to us on loan to love and care for until he is ready for them to be with him.

God bless you and Keep the Faith.

Steve and Janni-

Our thoughts and prayers are always with you and your families. You are two of the most wonderful parents and a very wonderful family. We are all lucky to know you. You are an inspiration to all. You are pillars of strength that most of us can only admire. We found comfort today in you and your family that Kole is in a better place. He was a wonderful boy. I can still see Ryan and him shooting hoops after the basketball games. I'll tell Ryan to look him up when he meets him in heaven for a rematch!!!

Love,
Troy and Kari and kids

We were so blessed to have the opportunity to get to know so many in your family during our time in Memphis. I am so sad that we won't get to visit again but take peace in knowing that Kole is now in such a wonderful place. I am glad that Judah was able to come in time to spend some time with his wonderful brother.

After leaving church today, I wondered what more I could to do celebrate Kole's life.

I decided, that each year on Kole's birthday, I would send a contribution in his memory to St. Judes...

Please join me in celebration of Kole's life here on earth, by sending a contribution to St. Judes on Kole's birthday each year in his memory.

Dear Steve & Janni,
You are beautiful. Jodi kept saying how beautiful your times were together and I was privileged to get a glimpse of that yesterday. You are both a brilliant light to those around you. I could see your love of God as you praised Him in song. I think your love has so much more value because it has been so deeply tested by suffering.

My very dear friend Jodi,
You are beautiful. Your love of God shines so that all may see and love Him too. Your passion for Him cannot be ignored. You have been a faithful sister and aunt. I will be by your side and support you in any way I can. Thank you for the privilege of being your friend.

"Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him." Colossians 3:15-17

Today's gospel reading at my Church spoke of Thomas after the lord rose from the dead. A couple lines from the reading really spoke volumes of what Steve and Janni have gone through the last year and half.

"Thomas answered and said to him, “My Lord and my God!”
Jesus said to him, “Have you come to believe because you have seen me?
Blessed are those who have not seen and have believed.”

Another, during the homily, a point was made that we see the Lord everyday in our works, thoughts, in everything we do.

I beleive that by witnessing what Steve and Janni have gone thru, that many may come to beleive in our Lord.

"O my God, relying on your infinite goodness and promises, I hope to obtain pardon of my sins, the help of your grace, and life everlasting, through the merits of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Redeemer."

-A Friend from Clyde

My family has been praying for the Kellers from the beginning and I often checked the blogs for updates-I admired the families faith-they along w/ Kole were an inspiration. I have been so upsett since knowing Kole had taken a turn for the worse and knowing he soon would be with OUR LORD but so many times (even now) I find myself coming here to read your words and to take comfort in your writings. In a time when so many of us want to comfort you and your family you have no idea how you have comforted so many of us on a daily basis. Thank you for sharing Kole w/ all of us and for letting us be a part of his life and a part of your life, thank you for the daily words of comfort and for educating so many of us. We continue to keep your family and Kole in our prayers.
The 'S' family,

It is true!

I too, have come to this site many times...over and over to re-read some of the words that Jodi and Janni have written.

They have provided comfort to those of us whose faith is not as strong as what we have witnessed it to be in the Keller family.

So in their battle...they have let and uplifted us.....how amazing!!!

We continue to keep this family in our prayers!!! You will be in our thoughts and prayers for some time to come!
